Who looks most like Sam's Ida?

My dd doesn't want to add any new historicals to our collection at the moment; and no she wasn't dropped on her head as a baby [img]biggrin.gif[/img] unless you count...hmmm.
Anywho. She is content to live in between 1904-06 with her darling Samantha. We have Nellie and Gracie. We've ordered extra chairs for our table sets. I want to add another friend character. I've thought about one of the twins but have decided on Ida. I love her illustration on the cover of "Samantha's Surprise" yet I'm thinking a bit darker hair (not much) like in "Happy Birthday Samantha". I've already picked the fabric for her green dress.
Now my question. Which current AGT looks most like her? The hair colors look drastically different between the catalog and online. The GT13G looks great in the catalog but a lot darker haired online. Perhaps the auborn hair beauty is really Ida. I'm not so picky about eye color. In the illustrations I plan to sketch for our "Ida" book, I'm thinking hazel eyes would be really nice. I've tried looking at everyone's albums, but I'm still having trouble telling who is whom in regards to model numbers. Thanks a billion.~Bugs

I had to go look at our books, then had to look through them as we have the older versions with different covers.

Her hair style looks the most like AGT 21 (shorter curly honey blonde hair with hazel eyes.)

I don't think I'd go with AGT 13 because she's so similar to Samantha. How about AGT 5 (red hair, brown eyes) or one of the other red heads? Their hair is really more of an auburn.

I would recommend one of the AGTs with bangs, they really seem to have the best hair for little girls to play with. I think if I had to do it all over again, I would have bought my daughter one of these first.

I also think it's great that your daughter is sticking to Samantha's time period. So many different collections can become overwhelming.

AGOT #16 is more similar to Samantha, than AGOT #13. I think #13 would be the perfect Ida! only you need to curl her hair once a month, which is what they did back then too! Most high class society young ladies had to curl their hair. And with the AGOT hairstyling kit, you will be fine, or your basic curlers. I know you are not use a real hot iron curler, like I saw someone at AGP use on her Lindsey and totally fried the doll's hair. [img]eek.gif[/img]

I checked out the album.. Great advice. I'm totally in love with GT21 but really do want bangs. Perhaps I can take her to a hairdresser. Any recommended posts about snipping bangs? If GT23 had anything but blue eyes, she could be "the one", with a little snip of the bangs that is. Like Gt17 as well, but again, not so sure about the eyes. I'm open to brown, green and hazel. Maybe I can post some pics and get more input. Thank~Bugs

Bangs and curly hair just don't work. I don't see it being possible to give 21 bangs without them looking really dumb.

You'd better off getting a doll with bangs and steam curling the rest of the hair.

I really think the AGTs with bangs have the best hair. How about AGT 8 (red hair, green eyes.) Just don't judge her based on the picture on the AG website. They originally had the wrong picture for her (had blue eyes instead of green) and instead of changing the picture they just recolored her blue eyes green. It looks all wrong. There are some of these dolls on eBay. Just type in American Girl Red Hair Green Eyes and you should see one.

I still think AGT 13 looks a lot like Samantha. Her hair is lighter, but not that much.
